Especially, if they’re worried about the price of programs like Photoshop. Fear not! For there are multiple free alternatives out there just waiting for you. Resources Back Up

by EmeraldTokyo on April 29, 2013 at 12:11 pm
Posted In: Website News

It seems with one of the last update of WP the links to the comic and art resources were not available for download. Some of the art was likewise down. It took me some time to go back in to each individual page to fix all the links. I have no clue how long any of it was down …. but it’s back up now. I’m sure I’ll come across a few more error in my quest to get the site back up and running smoothly.

Web Comic Rework

by EmeraldTokyo on April 27, 2013 at 10:31 pm
Posted In: Website News

I’ve finally rewritten the way the Web Comics are viewed on the site. However it unleashed a whole new host problems on the back end of the website and some of the front end layout.

I really don’t know how I’m going to handle it at this point since any reworking may take more effort than I can spare right now. And, when I find the time I may have to take the whole site down for a few days.

This really is quite irritating because the web comic projects have been on hold until I could get the viewer fixed and in the move a lot of work was … *ahem* … misplaced for lack of a better term.

To top it off the scanner did not survive the 600 mile move. So, any artwork sketched for the comics will need to be scanned somewhere else. And, I’m not sure where that somewhere else will be just yet.

In my frustration I have been doing a lot of digital work for the comics. Once I get the scanner and website issues smoothed out I should get things on the ball fairly quickly. It helps that the 600 mile move northward eliminated some of the major problems getting in the way of my artwork. Namely, the fact I’m 600 miles away from some people who had a habit of monopolizing my time to the point of insanity.

Yeah, compared to THAT this is just a minor bump in the road. :p

Chrissy.

A Cold Cold Day

by EmeraldTokyo on March 29, 2013 at 8:08 pm
Posted In: Personal Blogging

This past Saturday was my first debut in any art festival/show. I’ve of course entered my work in art shows and hung my art in businesses before, but this was the first time I was sitting at a table selling and showing my work.

It wasn’t exactly what I expected. Not because of anything I did wrong…

First off, I spent quite a bit of money getting ready for the event. I paid for my space and included electricity to the space to run my laptop, a decision I don’t regret!

I got copies of some of my work printed to sell. I also bought a shelter tent because the event, The Irish Heritage Celebration, was an outdoor event. Local loved ones supplied me with a table and chairs to use.

The day of the event was not only bitter cold … it displayed a delightful mix of freezing rain and snow.

I arrived at my space at the designated set up time. I had to attempt to set up on my own, because my husband was at home with the kids and everyone else nearby lives about 25-30 minutes away, and I had to set up early in the morning.

I got soaking wet just trying to put up that ungodly shelter that was obviously designed by a sadistic mind. One of the poles snapped where they connect and once it was set up the whole structure was a sneeze away from collapsing . Part way through construction, a kind teenage boy showed up to help me erect the p.o.s. He had already helped his mom set up their tent, which “pops up” with very little effort. I know what my next business purchase is gonna be ….

So, after much fumbling with faulty hardware and crappy instructions … my shelter was up. It precariously leaned forward, so to prevent it from falling over at the slightest gust of wintry wind, I had to lash it to the building behind it.

Over an hour had passed and the few patrons brave enough to show up to this little slice of freezing hell disguised as a festival had already started to arrive. I had to rush to set up inside my shelter with numb fingers. Luckily I prepared for the cold by bringing a space heater as well as a blanket. The exact reason I don’t regret splurging extra for the electricity! I shivered in the cold wind despite the heater and blanket … but was just warm enough to stick it through the entire event.

I did actually make some sales at the event. Enough to cover the money spent on the space with a little profit. Sadly the profit didn’t cover the amount spent on my prints and tent. Luckily, I was able to return the tent and get my money back since I keep all receipts for tax purposes.

Overall it was a good learning experience if nothing else.

Here’s to hoping my next event goes better.

Luv,
Chrissy.

Moving Forward?

It’s been awhile! I’ve been extremely caught up in life. Got married, moved across 5 states, and even had a baby since the last update…

Yeah, sorry I still didn’t get the comics back up. It’s going to be more time until I can do that. What with my usual issue of having no internet at the moment.

But, I have some exciting news! There just might be an Emerald Angel Studios! It seems a possibility! A very strong possibility! We just need board approval …. and an application fee. And, maybe … it will be so!

Also, in the world of Emerald Angel News … I’m aiming to join in my first event as an Artist in my new town. Hopefully it’ll be the first of many!

The event is the Tyrone Irish Heritage Celebration. What a perfect event to spread my Emerald Wings!

Wish me luck!

Luv,
Chrissy.
