  Guest Speaking for Flash Class
   July 09, 2008.

This morning I was a guest speaker for the Macromedia Flash class at ITT Tech. It's a course I took last semester and I'm only in my 5th semester at ITT Tech. However, since I'm so good at the program, I was invited by the new instructor for the class to come in today and show the class a few things.

I held a Flash Game Design Workshop a few months ago; and well that went kinda badly since it was my first time up in front of a crowd trying to teach something. I ran into coding problems because the two different versions of the program. I have an older version and the school had a newer version. I am used to coding in Actionscript 1.0 - 2.0 rather than 3.0. (3.0 sucks!)

Well this time I was prepared for the problem. In 3.0 you can't even do the code I wanted to teach the class ... so I told them to change the publish settings for the Flash project to 1.0 - 2.0 coding.

I brought up the program and had the class follow along. First I had everyone write the code down after I displayed it on the projector. This was a mistake because they couldn't see the code well enough to know the ( or { apart. When I realized the problem I quickly printed off copies of the codes for everyone to use. They followed along pretty well, except some people couldn't keep up. So I would pause between major steps and run around the class helping everyone.

The instructor for the class is new to the program himself; so I was teaching him this game design lab at the same time. Once I showed him how to do things, he was able to help me with the numerous students who needed help. Things went pretty smoothly because students who got it helped the students who didn't. They all loved what I showed them very much and everyone thanked me. I feel very accomplished since everyone was able to complete the hands on project successfully. I can't wait to see their final projects.

Chrissy.

  LAPTOP!
   June 09, 2008.

I got my Economic Stimulus check today! The first thing I did, was run out and buy a laptop for school! Got a 1 year warranty too in case my kids make another oopsie like they did my big screen TV, and the warranty covers accidental damage ... YES!

It's a Dell and wasn't too expensive, I couldn't afford anything more. But, it's mine!

  Projects for Tonya Kay!
   May 07, 2008.

Once again I'm being approached by Tonya Kay, AKA Creature from Who Wants To Be A Superhero Season One, to do some coloring for a project she's working on.

I'm extremely pleased with these events, because I had to push myself so hard last time to get the work done at the last minute, I felt I didn't do too good a job. I wasn't very pleased to say the least ... I honestly didn't think Tonya would even consider asking me again even though she praised my work.

She just called me about an hour ago (I'm glad I included my number in an e-mail!) ... still giving me praise and asking if I can do some more work for her. This time there's no pressure and no sudden deadline. This means I can spend plenty of time working on the pieces for her. Hopefully this time I can make the poor girl have an orgasm just looking at what I can do.

I'll keep everyone up to date on if or not she likes the work because I might not be posting these images up anywhere for anyone to see. She's probably going to be using these in a large project you'll have to get from her ... not from me.

Luv,
Chrissy.

  Holy Responsibilities Batman!
   March 31, 2008.

Since I started going to ITT Tech, I’ve pretty much made the choice that I’m the one who’s in control of the grades I get, the portfolio pieces I create, the quality of my work, my attendance, and all the things that matter concerning my future in whatever multimedia career I land in. So I decided since I am in such control, that I’m not going to waste my time at ITT . I’m going to get the best grades I can and make sure my portfolio reflescts nothing but the best of my abilities. I’m still kinda of undecided on what day job I’ll try to get after I graduate. Of course, since I’m busting my buns to have a killer combination of a sparkling resume and a portfolio full of not just beautiful eye candy but actual completed projects such as games, websites, and more ... I’ll probably get snapped up into some kind of job by employers who just can’t resist the temptation that is me. LOL!

My eccentric attitude confused the ITT Tech Instructors of course, and they didn’t know what to think of me what with my hair dyed green not to mention the loud and brash way in which I express myself. After each instructor got to know me and the amount of drive I have behind my odd mannerisms, they started to enjoy my refreshing amount of creativity and humor. Now each instructor who’s class I excel in sees me in a new way and respects me a lot more than their first impression would have allowed even if I wasn’t so off the wall on the first impression.

The other students at the school take this differently. A few of them really like me and there are a few who hate the fact I’m a show off. Hey, I’m not a stuck up show off though. I’m open and willing to help everyone in my class learn the things they need to get to my level or even beyond. Cuz, let’s face it, if I have no compitition, then I can’t really excercise myself in those areas. So a lot of the students respect me as well.

All this prattling has gotten me off track. Our Multimedia Chair at ITT Tech, has started a Multimedia Club called Creative Media Minds. It’s to be student led and student run. I made the posters for her for the interest meeting which was this past Sat, the 29th of March. I almost forgot about the meeting even being on Sat and after my class I was all set to leave when some of the students reminded me about it. So I attended the meeting. There we discussed ideas for the club, requirements to be in the club, and who’s going to run the club.

When the Multimedia chair asked everyone in attendance who should be elected as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer … everyone unanimously voted me in to be President before I could even say anything. It was rather unexpected so I didn’t even know what to say. I’m honored to be the president of the club and I’ll do a good job, but I was actually trying to cut back on my workload this quarter. But, I do believe I can handle it despite the stress of last quarter. I’m still in shock though.

To show that I can handle such responsibility, I suggested that the Multimedia chair be the Treasurer despite the club being a student led organization because it was a more responsible way to go. Picking a student to handle funds for a club is a bit tricky. I didn’t want to mean it as though no one else in the club would be responsible enough but that it would feel more comfortable to have someone who’s already in a responsible position handle the money matters of the club.

Now I have a great club full of talented people to run, fun events and field trips to plan, guest speakers to invite to the school, and more great things to do. This is going to be a blast and I’m ready for it.

Luv,
Chrissy.
